Project Overview

VIVA is a high-fidelity prototype of a furniture shopping mobile app that reimagines the way users explore and purchase home decor. By integrating 3D product models and augmented reality (AR), VIVA offers an immersive shopping experience that bridges the gap between physical and digital retail.

The Challenge

Online furniture shopping often lacks confidence due to sizing doubts, aesthetic mismatches, and limited visualization. The challenge was to create a digital solution that enhances trust, simplifies navigation, and enables users to “try before they buy” in a virtual yet realistic environment.

Research & Discovery
The design process began with:
• Market analysis of furniture e-commerce platforms
• Identifying user pain points such as visualization uncertainty, complicated checkouts, and lack of product context
• Creation of personas to represent primary shoppers (homeowners, interior design enthusiasts, new movers)
• Journey mapping to streamline the decision-making and purchasing process

UX & UI Design
• Wireframes structured the overall layout and ensured logical flow
• UI was designed with a clean, elegant aesthetic and user-friendly interface
• Design system built in Figma to ensure visual consistency across 70+ screens
• Emphasis on accessibility, readability, and mobile-first design

Prototyping & Testing
• Developed a high-fidelity interactive prototype with full shopping flows, search/filter, product pages, AR integration, and checkout
• Integrated AR interactions for real-time furniture visualization in the user's space
• Usability testing revealed improvement points in product browsing and onboarding
• Iterated on navigation patterns, visual hierarchy, and microinteractions

Handoff & Documentation
• Final files included component specs, spacing guides, color/tipography tokens, and developer-ready documentation
• All assets structured for smooth design-to-development transition

Key Features
• Augmented Reality (AR): Place furniture virtually in your space
• 3D Product Viewer: Rotate, zoom, and inspect models before purchase
• Seamless Shopping Flow: From discovery to checkout in a fluid, intuitive experience
• Wishlists & Personalized Recommendations: Save and compare your favorite items with ease, while discovering new products tailored to your style and browsing behavior.

Project Outcome

VIVA stands out as a future-forward shopping experience that empowers users to shop smarter and more confidently. With immersive technology, human-centered design, and a solid UI foundation, the project redefines digital furniture shopping by bringing the showroom into the user’s home.
